Congratulations to senior Sarah Gray and junior Joseph Lahmann! Both students submitted a winning essay in the Serra Club Vocations Essay contest. Each student had to answer the question “How has a priest, deacon or man or woman in consecrated life accompanied you on your life journey?” Sarah’s essay was written about her grandfather, the late Deacon Ron Stier. While Sarah wrote on her grandfather, Joseph wrote about four priests he has never met –Fr. Nathan, Fr. John, Fr. Michael, and Fr Mike of the podcast series called Catholic Stuff You Should Know.
The contest is open to all Catholic students in Grades 7 through 12 who live in or attend school within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and one winner is chosen from each grade level. Having two winners from one school is a rarity!
Both students will receive a certificate and cash prize during a special luncheon at the Fatima Retreat House later this month in Indianapolis, as well as, having their essays published in the Criterion. We are proud of their efforts and congratulate them on these awards!
