Lilly Endowment Scholarship: The application for the deadline has now expired.
Naviance: Naviance is the electronic system through which the school submits your transcript and test scores to colleges and universities as you begin applying. It is very important to set up your Naviance account and to keep it updated as we refer to it often during the senior year. https://student.naviance.com/auth/fclookup
Common App: The Common Application is an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to any of more than 800 member colleges and universities in 49 states and the District of Columbia. The benefits of using the Common App include an easy to use interface to organize all the schools you plan on applying to, the opportunity to submit applications early and of course, only having to write a single version of your personal statement that will be used for every single school. https://www.commonapp.org/
College Applications: Know your deadlines -every school is different! College and university merit scholarships generally require a separate application and have a separate deadline date. Talk with college representatives and admission counselors for the schools you are most interested in. Again -every school is different!
Transcript Request: Before requesting your transcript it is very important to know whose attention it needs to be sent to, and how the college /university would like to receive it (Naviance, email or regular mail). If you need to have your transcript submitted you will need to complete the Transcript Request Form and submit it to Mrs. Cartwright. Requests without the form cannot be submitted.
TACO-U: The "Take A Course On Us" program is an independent, online class through Ivy Tech. While the course itself is free, students are responsible for purchasing the textbook and any necessary supplies. Students are encouraged to choose a class that will either be accepted into their program of choice at Ivy Tech or a class that will transfer to their selected college or university. Recommended classes are Public Speaking, Intro to Psychology, and Intro to Sociology. Logging into the course and completion of the assignments is the sole responsibility of the student.
Internships and Cadet Teaching: Internships and Cadet Teaching are designed to provide students with real world experience and insight into fields that they may be intersted in. Internship students are encouraged to help find their placements by reaching out to area businesses and building relationships. Most students are placed within the first 3-4 weeks of the semester. All cadet teaching is done with Seton Catholic Elementary Schools.
College Visits: For the 2020-21 school year all college rep visits will be set up via Zoom Meeting during the SRT time block. Watch for more information to be posted in Canvas. When taking a day from school to go visit a college /university, you must submit a College Visit Form at least 24 hours prior to your visit. When submitting to the office, all lines except the SCHS office signature and the college representative signature should be complete. At that point, your attendance for that day will be "excused absence". Once the visit is complete you need to return the form with teh signature of the college representative on it. At this point, your classroom attendance transitions from "excused absence" to "exempt" and it will not count against your attendance. Please contact the office with questions.
