Seton Catholic Varsity volleyball lost to Daleville earlier in the season in four close sets. Last night in regional play, the tables turned as the Cardinals beat the Broncos in four sets (25 -23, 24 -26, 25 -16, 25- 21) advancing the Cardinals to semi-state.
Down 19 -17 in the opening set, the Cardinals came back after a serving run from Senior Megan Schroeder –allowing the Cards to take a 25 -23 win.
The Cardinals led 15 -8 in the 2
nd set. Daleville responded and the teams sat at 24 points each. Daleville battled to win the set 24 -26.
Seton had an answer for every Bronco run, taking the 3
rd set, 25 -16. The Cardinals opened the final set with a 6 -2 lead. With Seton leading 24 -21, Daleville sent a final attack out-of-bounds that left the Cardinals winners 25 -21.
"The entire time I've been here, we've never beaten Daleville," Coach Jennifer Martin said. "I told my players that it was going to be a dogfight all night, and it was."
Semi-state action against Lafayette Central Catholic will begin at 12:30 pm on Saturday, 10/31 at Caston High School. The semi-state championship will be played at 7 pm.
