Earlier this week, we held our inaugural National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) induction ceremony on our Intermediate campus. Students from grades 3 -6 were present to witness as sixth grade classmates Mary Daoud, Abby Deitsch, Olivia Dudas, Mason Harvey, Michael Henry, Lilly Null, Sammy Humphrey, Trey Pipenger, Bess Scheiben, and Andrew Warner were recognized and commended for their academic achievement, responsibility, service and leadership.
Students in the fifth and sixth grades are eligible for membership into the NEHS. For the academic criterion, a student must have a 90% or higher in all subject areas. Those students who meet this criterion are invited to complete a candidate’s form that provides the faculty council with evidence of the candidate’s responsibility at home, at school, and in the community.
In addition, to evaluate a candidate’s level of responsibility, the faculty council uses two types of information: school administrative records and faculty input regarding their professional reflections on a candidate’s personal responsibility qualities.
Going forward, our NEHS chapter will conduct its selection procedures and induction during the spring semester.
Congratulations again to Mary, Abby, Olivia, Mason, Michael, Lilly, Sammy, Trey, Bess and Andrew!
