The entire 2020 high school spring sports season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but players and teams returned refreshed and eager in 2021.
Student athletes displayed superb skill, leadership and heart that helped their respective teams and schools succeed. Many showcased significant growth from their play two seasons ago, or made their mark at the high school level as a previously unproven competitor.
Luke Leverton was recently named Pal-Item's spring sport Athlete of the Year for baseball.
His stats on the season include: Pitching: 2.11 ERA, 9-2 record, 15 appearances, 63 innings, 146-20 strikeout-walk ratio. Batting: .610/.693/1.050, 1.744 OPS, 29 RBI's, 11 doubles, three triples, three home runs. First-Team All-PAAC, set school record of 21 strikeouts in a game, set school record of three home runs in a season.
Congratulations Luke!
