The Seton Catholic family would like to congratulate Linda Jennings on her retirement. The past year was Linda’s 41st year of working as Food Service Director / Cook. Since 1979, she has worked at each of the Seton Catholic Campuses.
When asked her favorite memory of working at Seton Catholic she said, “My daughter Dawn and sons, Jimmy and Joe, attending and graduating from 8th grade back when the school only had grades K through 8. I was so blessed to have them at Seton Catholic with the wonderful Seton Catholic family. Another favorite was my 40th surprise birthday party. Mr. Gilbert dressed as a funeral director and led the entire faculty and staff in a procession past the cafeteria serving window. He also created a table with a yucca plant and many yucky items on it like toilet paper, egg shells, and dead flowers. They knew how to throw a party! It sure made me laugh. That was 32 years ago! Wow! I also enjoyed our winter picnics in the gym, and the Seton festivals. I have so many favorite memories I can’t hold it to just one!”
Linda’s plan for retirement will be to take care of her husband and keep him out of harm’s way of the pandemic. She plans to do crafts and perhaps with help, make a room for her crafting. She is looking forward to when this pandemic ends so she can spend more time with her 18, soon to be 19, grandchildren.
After 41 years, you must wonder what she is going to miss the most, and according to Linda, “I will miss the children. They are at the top of the list. I love their funny stories and the things they share with me. I will miss my Seton Family. I worked for Seton for such a long time that it became it a huge part of my life. I will miss decorating the cafeteria for the students for the holidays and our famous Gingerbread House! The students loved it! I will miss the lunch line where I heard so many of them say ‘yummy,’ ‘Mrs. Jennings that's my favorite!’ and so many ‘Thank you Mrs. J.’ I will miss the parents and grandparents stopping in and saying, ‘Mrs. Jennings what do you do to your green beans? My kids love them. I make them and they won’t touch them please tell me.’ I will miss my little preschool friend who took to me this past year and bragged to her grandma, parents, and friends and told them I was her friend. And then there is Mrs. Becker who keeps me in line and Janet Thomas who helps as well. Wow! What a ride it has been! God bless you all and God bless Seton Catholic Schools.”
The Seton Catholic family would like to thank Linda for her 41 years of dedication to feeding the students, teachers and staff of Seton Catholic School. You will be missed. We pray that you will have many happy memories with your family during your retirement!
