The class valedictorian is the senior who has the highest cumulative GPA at the end of the 7th semester of high school. As a testament to the hard work put in by two individuals, Mr. Ruhl decided to name two valedictorians this year. Each of them had a cumulative GPA of over 4.5 on our 4.0 scale.
Congratulations to seniors Noah Becker and Kelsey Martin on being named Co-Valedictorians of the SCHS Class of 2017. Noah, who is the son of Chris and Kim Becker, is a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Kelsey, who is the daughter of Ed and Jennifer Martin, is also a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
The valedictorian gives the farewell speech during the commencement ceremony each year. Although college is definitely in both students’ post-secondary plans, neither knows where they are headed yet. Having been accepted at five universities combined, they are still weighing their options. Noah plans to major in Mechanical Engineering, while Kelsey plans to major in Early Childhood Education.
Valedictorian status is based on a Cumulative GPA achieved after the first semester of the senior year. To qualify for these honors, one must have been a student at SCHS for at least six semesters, and be representative of a good SCHS student. Congratulations, Noah and Kelsey!
